Costa Rica & Nicaragua expeditions

Raleigh International has been working in Costa Rica & Nicaragua for the past ten years. So far, volunteers have completed over 250 environmental and community projects; all with the absolute dedication of more than 3,000 venturers and 1,000 volunteer managers.

Why volunteer in Costa Rica & Nicaragua?

As a volunteer in Costa Rica & Nicaragua you could be living and working among communities to improve health and educational services, helping to protect the countries' natural environment and trekking over mountainous terrain, beaches, jungles and volcanoes. Choosing a Costa Rica and Nicaragua expedition allows you to get to know two different countries. Costa Rica has a beautiful variety of national parks, world-class biodiversity, stunning and challenging trekking terrain and remote indigenous reserves. Nicaragua's remote rural communities, traditional 'campesino' culture and fascinating history make for a rich and diverse location to undertake volunteer projects.

Before doing volunteer work in Costa Rica & Nicaragua with Raleigh it's important to try and learn some basic Spanish. A little Spanish can go a long way and you'll get more out of your volunteering experience if you can interact with the community in their mother tongue. In your welcome pack we'll recommend language schools in Costa Rica that you could attend before joining an expedition.
