Our expeditions

PrintE-mail

We run expeditions about 12 times throughout the year to Borneo, Costa Rica & Nicaragua and India. These last between 4 and 10 weeks and inspire 17-24 year olds often taking gap years to join as venturers and people 25 and over (up to 75!) usually on career breaks or retiring to join as volunteer managers. We realise these might not be right for everyone, so we also design tailor-made expeditions to suit the needs of a diverse range of organisations. All our expeditions are designed to be challenging, life-changing experiences. The more you put in, the more you get out of it!

We believe the success of our expeditions is due to three key factors:
1. Our expeditions provide transformational journeys for people who join from all walks of life, including young people from the host country
2. Our projects are based on long-term partnerships with host countries to make sure the work done by our volunteers really makes a difference
3. Our expeditions are carried out to the highest safety standards with full-time staff based in our countries

Main expeditions
Choosing from our unique 10 week (with 4 and 7 week shorter options) or 5 week expeditions, people from all walks of life work together in remote places. They work with young people from that country and alongside local skilled workers on much needed community and environmental projects. They then test themselves on tough adventure challenges. Volunteer managers must join for the full 10 or 5 week expedition and undertake 2-3 weeks of pre-expedition training in-country.

Tailor made expeditions
We have developed many itineraries for employers, schools, youth and membership organisations, whether it's a leadership training programme for clients like Ministry of Defence or personal development for groups like Hereford Expedition Group (HEG).
