Meet the team - Borneo
Having a full time team in-country is absolutely essential to ensuring our programmes are the best that they can be. It enables us to build long-term, sustainable partnerships with our project partners and other stakeholders and develop a shared understanding of each other's work.It also ensures that we can better train and brief all of our volunteers about a whole range of aspects that wouldn't be possible without having a permanent team in each country.
The Country Director and Country Programme Manager roles are very different. The Country Director focuses more on our external relationships; project planning; funding and business development, while the Country Programme Manager focuses on delivery of the expedition programmes and management of our volunteer managers. This enables us to ensure that our projects not only respond to locally defined needs but that they are delivered safely and to a high standard. Our Recruitment, Support and Media Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment and support of the Host Country venturers as well as managing media activities and external communications.
"Every day I get to witness amazing things, whether it is the completing of another worthwhile project or seeing how important organisations such as NGOs and government departments appreciate our work." Jim Clements is the Country Director for Borneo. Find out how he got into Raleigh here
