How much will it cost?
As we're a charity we talk about fundraising rather than costs. This doesn't mean you have to fundraise for your all your expedition. You can pay any way you like. Some of our venturers save up, or receive donations from friends and family, others write to local businesses, or get involved with fundraising activities such as organising parties or sponsored events. We do encourage fundraising, not only because it raises awareness of our charitable work but we believe it gets you in the spirit of Raleigh. In many ways this is the beginning of your Raleigh adventure, so start as you mean to go on.Many of our venturers return as volunteer managers and equally many volunteer managers are looking to take up the challenge again. Contact us for fundraising incentives to keep the Raleigh spirit alive.

Flights
You will need to arrange your own flights, however we do provide a list of recommended flights for the January to April 2009 expeditions here. You can check our forums to find out who else is coming on your expedition.
Visas
Depending on your nationality and chosen country you may need to apply for a visa before you go. Please check with the relevant embassy for current guidelines. UK nationals are required to apply for a visa for expeditions to India. Visit the High Commission of India for more information.
Vaccinations
Your welcome CD has a list of compulsory vaccinations for your chosen country. Once you've had your vaccinations you'll need to complete and return the form to out medical coordinator before you can join an expedition. Ask your doctor about anti-malarial medication.
Kit list
A full list of the necessary kit is included in the welcome CD. Costs can vary hugely from £100 to £400 and we encourage venturers to reuse as much as possible. Check our Live Raleigh forum for returned volunteers looking to offload their kit. Alternatively, we recommend Nomad Travel Store and Clinics. As a Raleigh participant you'll receive a 10% discount, plus Nomad will donate 5% to our charitable work.
