Schools and youth groups
We are committed to establishing relationships with schools and membership organisations to advise and guide pupils and students. We also work in partnership with youth agencies around the country to give disadvantaged youths the opportunity to join an expedition.
Back in our younger days as Operation Raleigh we took young people out of their comfort zone and got them out there experiencing new cultures, working with others on community, environmental and adventure projects. Why? To give them the chance to develop and grow and realise their full potential. Today, we might have grown up and are now inspiring people of all age groups to join our expeditions, but helping young people from all walks of life and nationalities to be all they can be is still very close to our hearts.
These are the two opportunities we currently provide for schools, colleges and county councils:
1. We offer 3-5 week tailor-made expeditions which focus on developing leadership and team work skills, building self-confidence and also facilitating young people to re-evaluate some of their beliefs, attitudes and assumptions, particularly around different cultures.
2. We also offer a Year 12/13 Global Citizenship and Leadership Programme. This is an 18 month programme which has been designed in response to the government and education agenda around improving global learning and community cohesion activities within schools. The programme aims to help schools in embedding an ethos that develops passionate, responsible, socio-cultural and globally aware students, enabling them to flourish in an increasingly global marketplace.
Current clients include Hereford Expedition Group (HEG), Dr Challoner's High School, Welling School, North Fulham New Deal for Communities, West Sussex Youth Services and St Marylebone. Read some feedback from these schools here
