Recruitment
The first step is a presentation or enrolment event jointly run by us and your agency to explain how the programme works, explore the young person's motivations and whether it's right for them.

Raleigh Outdoor Adventure Residential (ROAR)
We run a 5 day outdoor residential challenge near Buxton, Derbyshire. This brings together young people on partner programmes from around the UK. Participants are taken out of their comfort zone and face situations typical of what they'll experience on expedition. This is an invaluable way to build independence, confidence and team working skills.

Following the ROAR, a discussion takes place with the agency partner and Raleigh staff about the suitability of the expedition for the young applicant. Not all young people who attend the ROAR go on expedition.

Challenge Workshop
This 3 day residential workshop held in Sussex is an opportunity for the young person to meet everyone going on his or her expedition. They will also learn about the projects they'll be completing overseas, prepare for outdoor basic living and get kit and medical advice from expert Raleigh staff.

Expedition
Our 5 or 10 week expeditions are challenging, life-changing experiences where young people work in teams with people from all walks of life on local community and environmental projects, plus a tough adventure phase. The aim is that the young person will develop self-belief, communication, team working and problem-solving skills and become more than they'd ever imagined they could be.

Follow up
Every young person must return to a support network so they can build upon their experience. This includes programme ambassador and peer mentoring, young person led community projects, corporate mentoring schemes or work placements and training or educational opportunities.

Support to young people from you
Your organisation will need to be able to support and prepare the young person at each stage of the programme, including follow-up.

Support to you from us
We will support your organisation at every stage of the partnership and work closely with you to make sure that the young people are properly prepared to make the most from this potentially life changing experience.
