Stay involved

PrintE-mail

We often hear returning volunteers say they've made life-long friends and are keen to keep the spirit of Raleigh going. Here are some ideas to get you started. Or let us know of any activities you've organised and ideas you have for spreading the word about us.

Join the Raleigh Youth Forum
So you've challenged yourself on expedition, are you ready for a new challenge? We're looking for 10 young people aged 17-24 to join our first youth forum. You'll take part in group discussions and generate ideas about volunteering and be an active voice for the way Raleigh is run. To find out more, read the Youth Forum FAQ.

Be an expedition co-ordinator
Want to keep in touch with your expedition group? The expedition co-ordinator is the official link between the Alumni team at Head Office and all members of your expedition group. As co-ordinator for your expedition group you will liaise with Head Office to ensure that we pass on all the exciting news from Raleigh to our alumni and vice versa. This may mean keeping in touch with your expedition group, organising reunions and posting messages on Facebook from time to time.

Perhaps it's been a while since the last reunion or maybe you haven't been in contact with your expedition group for many years; here's your chance to get everyone involved again. We can help you in various ways from providing lists of expedition participants to offering advice on running events and reunions.

We are looking to recruit someone from each Raleigh expedition, so if you were a venturer or part of the volunteer staff on any of the Raleigh expeditions over the years and you want to keep your expedition friends together, now is your chance.

Interested? Or want to find out who is your expedition co-ordinator? Contact Rosie Palliser on 020 7183 1290 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your details or nominate a friend.

Share your experience
Join our forum discussions to share your knowledge and reminisce about expedition days with fellow volunteers. Why not post your photos or video clips in Live Raleigh.

Join a Raleigh support group or society
Many volunteers form and join Raleigh support groups or societies, plus social network groups before expedition and continue to keep in touch when they return.

Give your time
We always need passionate volunteers to help run our residential training workshops, open events, recruitment fairs, university or school presentations. Read more about volunteering in the UK. Returned volunteers have set up Raleigh societies or support groups in their area to complete local community and environmental projects. They also organise social and sporting events and give advice to people preparing to go on expedition.

Get your story published
Local newspapers love hearing about young people's achievements so why not send a press release to your local newspaper and ask if they'll write an article about your experience. Or you could submit a blog, story or photo of your experience to an online travel magazine.

Other ways to support us
There are other ways in which you can support us and profile the work we do. You can make a donation, support Raleigh through your company or taking on one of the challenge events.
