Theo Boyce wins HSBC 'Making Britain Better' bursaryPosted in Raleigh HO Blog on November 15, 2010 by Administrator {youtube}ubSiQuHs8fk{/youtube} "Raleigh transformed my year out into something genuinely worthwhile and beneficial in more ways than I can possibly explain here. I met people I will stay friends with for life. I became more responsible, self-sufficient, and confident. I am now better at making decisions, having had the privilege of being exposed to factors that shape different cultures and lives. "My ambition is to take the lessons I learned during my expedition in India and the ones I will be taught at university, and create an organisation which aims to promote cultural integration in the UK. I completed my expedition feeling confident that one person's hard work and initiative can do a great deal of good to so many people - and it was that confidence that Raleigh gave me that made me jump on the opportunity given by HSBC." Raleigh Borneo unaffected by Indonesian tsunamiPosted in Raleigh HO Blog on October 27, 2010 by Administrator After the recent incidents of the tsunami in Indonesia, we would like to reassure you that this has not affected the Raleigh Borneo expedition. This occurred in Sumatra which is hundreds of miles away from our venturers that are working out in Sabah, Northern Borneo. Borneo is a very sheltered island as it is protected from the elements by the surrounding land masses. Rest assured all of the venturers remain safe and well and are making great progress on their projects as you can see on the expedition blog. Health and safety are Raleigh's top priorities; we are always working to ensure that these principles are upheld. Our in-country staff are liaising with the Foreign Office to ensure that everyone involved is kept up to date with the situation.
