Many of our volunteers have been recommended us by friends or family members. This is because the Raleigh grapevine is alive and kicking. We're keen to keep it going and would really appreciate your help by getting involved in one or more of our word of mouth events. We pay all reasonable travel expenses to events and cover lunch at an all day event.
Open events
These are informal events for anyone wanting to find out more about a Raleigh expedition. The head office team runs these with the help of past venturers and volunteer managers who can answer questions and share their expedition stories. The events last about 2 ½ hours, are attended by between 10 and 35 people and are held in cities around the country. Please contact us for more information.
Recruitment fairs and national shows
We exhibit at many recruitment and university fairs as well as national shows throughout the year. The fairs last up to 3 days and can get extremely busy. Stands are always manned by 1 or 2 members of the head office team however we also need past venturers and volunteer managers to share their experiences. Even if you can only spare a few hours we'd love to hear from you. Please contact us for information on forthcoming fairs.
School and university presentations
We are regularly invited to present at schools and universities, where the students like to hear past Raleigh volunteers reminiscing about expedition life. The presentations can last up to 1 hour and sometimes a head office staff member will be with you. They are usually held during the day and take place throughout the year. It's a great way to improve your public speaking skills and we can give you a Power Point presentation and marketing materials to help. You could also give a talk at your old school or university. Please contact us for more information.
