Raleigh International is a youth and sustainable development charity. The young people who go on a Raleigh expedition work on sustainable development projects in rural communities overseas. They experience a personal journey like no other. Raleigh changes young people's lives.

Without fundraising, Raleigh wouldn't exist.

Support Young People

"Before Raleigh, I spent most of my time drinking and getting on the wrong side of the law. I was homeless at 16 years old. I'd always wanted to do charity work and always dreamed of travelling but I could barely afford to feed myself some weeks. Then I was given the chance to do a Raleigh expedition. I now see the world in a new light. I left school without any formal qualifications and Raleigh has inspired me to go out and get some. I learnt all about different cultures and met friends from all over the world. Raleigh has given me self belief and changed my life forever." Support Projects

In India, 69% of people do not have access to a toilet. This can lead to the contamination of water sources, putting communities at risk of disease. Children are sick and miss school. Women put themselves in danger every night by going into the forest alone in the dark. Raleigh teams work together with rural communities to build eco-sanitation toilets to help address this issue.

Raleigh also works on delivering a clean and sustainable water supply to those in need of this basic human requirement. Visit our photostory to learn more.

What else can I support?

At Raleigh, we have so much going on that there is always an amazing project or person that needs your support. Here are some breakdowns of costs that we need your help to cover:

£8 could buy one shovel for a Raleigh participant to use when digging the foundation for a bio-gas unit in India - a technology that ensures better health and a sustainable source of energy for a community.

£15 could buy six pieces of timber that could be used for the construction of a kindergarten in Borneo, giving children their first access to education.

£45 could buy a good pair of hiking boots for an Indian bursary participant.

£150 could buy an 800 gallon water tank for a village of 250 people in Nicaragua that would provide a clean way to store water.

£260 allows Raleigh to build one eco-sanitation unit for a rural community in India, reducing the risk of disease and death due to water contamination.

£3,940 could mean that Raleigh could build a secondary school in rural Costa Rica, giving young people a chance to pursue advanced education and break the out of the poverty cycle.

£7,890 translates to providing a fresh, clean and consistent supply of water to an entire village in Nicaragua by building a gravity water feed system.
