Staff fundraising

Getting your workforce involved in raising money for Raleigh International through a series of exciting events and activities is a great way to build team spirit and staff loyalty. You could get the team to join the Challenge Events we have set up or we can help organise events tailored for you. We can offer exceptional incentives for your team such as the top fundraiser being able to visit one of our overseas projects.
We have worked with many companies including Deloitte, Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), Capgemini, HSBC, IBM, Barclays and Deutsche Bank.

RegattaRaleigh is delighted that Regatta have been a corporate supporter since 2006. Regatta's generous funding has enabled young people from socially excluded backgrounds to access Raleigh expeditions and to turn their lives around as a consequence.

Sponsorship

Raleigh International offers a number of events and publication sponsorship opportunities for companies. Our key sponsorship opportunities are for our overseas expeditions.
Please contact Teresa Fitzgerald for further details of sponsorship of the core expeditions or on any of the following:

Publications and marketing materials
There are opportunities to sponsor our forthcoming publications including our 2007 Annual Review and our alumni newsletters - being delivered to everyone who has taken an expedition with Raleigh International.
Marketing and promotional materials, including exhibition stands, are also needed for our Development Consultancy which delivers leadership and training programmes for corporate and professional organisations.

Pro bono support

Your company can support Raleigh International by skills and information-sharing as part of your corporate social responsibility policy. We continually aim to asses our procedures and pro bono support is extremely valuable for our charity.
We have benefited from the expertise of many companies and most recently, Capgemini, a leading technology consultancy, provided specialist guidance on maximising our internal contacts database system.

Shares giving

With tax incentives introduced in April 2000, shares giving may now be one of the best ways to support a charitable organisation.

If you were to give shares worth £1,000, Raleigh International would benefit and you would pay £400 or £220 less in income tax that year, depending on whether you are a higher rate or basic rate tax payer. As a further bonus, capital gains tax on any increase in the value of shares since you bought them will not apply.

Small parcels of shares that generate a lot of paperwork, possibly more than income, or windfall shares which might make little financial difference to you could make a huge difference for Raleigh International.

These small shares can be donated to charities through ShareGift which will add your shares to others to make up a significant amount. Alternatively, you can obtain a stock transfer form from the registrar who acts for the company in which you have shares. The name of the registrar can be found on the bottom of your share certificate.

Completing the stock transfer form:

  • Please give Raleigh International's details when completing the field: full name and postal address of the person whom the security is transferred.
  • Send the completed stock transfer form with the share certificate to Teresa Fitzgerald.
  • Ensure that you keep a copy of the stock transfer form and a receipt of the gift from Raleigh International so that you can claim the appropriate tax relief.

You should consider seeking professional advice from your tax adviser to ensure your gift is structured in the most tax effective way. Otherwise, please consult HM Revenue & Customs for further information.
