We are committed to the development of volunteers and we always welcome passionate, dedicated volunteers to give their time. Volunteers can help at our residential training workshops, open events, recruitment fairs, university or school presentations in the UK. Maybe you want to help us spread the word about our work, check out our alumni section to find out how.
Residential training workshops
We rely on the support and hard work of our volunteers to make our workshops the success they are. We run a number of different workshops, each with their own set of challenges and different set of skills requirements, from volunteers facilitators to group assessors and logistics managers. Whether you've just come back from one of our expeditions, have volunteered before or have no experience with Raleigh we look forward to hearing from you. We are able to cover all travel costs, but the maximum cover for travel costs will vary depending on which residential workshop you attend. If you're interested please contact Samantha de la Haye on +44 (0) 20 7183 1295 or samantha.delahaye@raleigh.org.uk
Challenge workshop is a 3 day residential for venturers going on expeditions. Through team building activities they'll meet others going on the expedition, learn more about their expedition and receive expert medical and equipment advice. Each workshop is specific to the chosen country.
Raleigh Outdoor Adventure Residential (ROAR) is a 5 day challenge held near Buxton, Derbyshire bringing together young people on partner programmes from around the UK. They are taken out of their comfort zone and through group work activities, they learn skills to prepare them for situations on our overseas expeditions.
Assessment Weekends are held as part of the selection process for volunteer managers. This is an intensive 2 day course designed to give volunteer managers a taste of expedition life and what each role on expedition entails.
Development Weekends are compulsory workshops for all volunteer managers before they embark on expedition. They receive training on group work and facilitation with young people in challenging environments and practical cross-cultural management techniques. Each Development Weekend is specific to the chosen expedition country.
